Why words matters

Updated: Mar 28, 2021

The almost magical effect that words have on our body, mind and spirit

If you're wondering how words can affect ourselves, remember that the nervous system is the manager of our body, but also influences our mind and spirit.

It regulates every bodily function (such as the digestion, the heart beat, the muscular movement and so on) and it has a great impact on our mind throughout the production of hormones and other substances. Moreover, the Limbic System, a group of brain structures, is the main responsible for a variety of functions including emotion, behaviour, long-term memory, and olfaction. Emotional life is largely housed in this system, and it critically aids the formation of memories.

So, how does the nervous system respond to the use of specific words?

It switches on certain brain areas where the meaning is analysed and according to it starts a chain reaction involving other brain areas and glands for the production of hormones and substances (such as adrenaline and oxytocin). The Limbic System also is involved, it generates emotions and, as a consequence, modifies the behaviour which is strictly connected to the creation of thoughts and to the general wellbeing of the entire body.

It seems very complicated, but our entire system does everything perfectly and almost in a blink of an eye, it is simply amazing !

But I will tell you something more: think about water.

I know, it is not what you were immagine, isn't it?

One of the most interesting discovery about water is that it has a memory. Dr. Masaru Emoto found out that crystals of iced water show a different shape according to the vibrations of which they were exposed to. He studied water from several sources (distilled water, water from rivers and lakes, tap water, etc.) and also he played some music and he pronounced some words and sentences to water in order to verify if it showed different forms. And it did it!

This is the crystal generated by the word Happiness

Dr. Masaru Emoto took lots fo incredible photographs of water crystals demonstrating the huge power words have.

Positive words and sentences (love, hope, thank you, compassion, etc.) created beautiful crystals while the negative ones (evil, I will kill you, you fool, etc.) didn't generate any crystal or only incomplete ones.

But because water it's dynamic, can also transform its shape according to the situation. For instance, water of very polluted rivers, that showed no harmonious crystals when frozen, not only revealed wonderful crystals after having received prayers for a group of monks, but also had way less algae the following year showing a less amount of pollution.

If you think that adult human body is approximately 70% water and infant bodies are about 90% water, you quickly realise what a great impact words (and thoughts) have on ourselves and on our babies. We are virtually able to transform our "inner water" just thinking and saying (and even writing if it is done with the emotional intention) something. This is extremely important, we always should chose the most appropriate language in order to be healthy and happy. In particular during pregnancy, focusing on labour and birth and speaking to the baby with the most positive intentions is vital. If the future mum thinks or says "I cannot do it", "this is going to hurt", "I'm scared" and so on, it is highly probably that her "water" will change according to this information making those thoughts possible. If instead she focuses on positive thoughts such as "I can do it" "My baby's birth will be the best birth possible" "My baby and I are going to be fine" and so on she creates the bases for her perfect experience because every cells in her body (and in her baby's body) are ready to make it happen.

Now you know that your water is listening to you, pay attention to the language you use and it is used around you, be aware of the power of words and simply love yourself.

It takes courage, but you deserve the best and your baby too, don't you agree?

Namaste
